It’s not unusual for us to travel to inspect vehicles before taking on work, but this particular job involved a weekend trip to Scotland to look at a late 90’s icon - the Audi S4.

The car had been sitting on the owner’s driveway for around 8 years. Despite this, it was in fantastic condition (following a detail), for both its age and mileage. The main concern was the condition of the timing belt and associated components, so we were asked to strip the front end and assess everything properly, before replacement parts where required.

As expected with a vehicle that had been standing for so long, we uncovered a few unwanted surprises including evidence of mice and plenty of trapped foliage behind the inlets. Thanksfully, once everything had been cleaned, checked and reassembled, the S4 fired back into life without issue - always a satisfying moment!

Projects like this are a good reminder that careful inspection and preventative maintenance go a long way on older performance VAG cars.
